[HMDS] Second Resident-Run Party on GK Island
This Saturday afternoon Storm Basiat ran his first, and our second, resident-run party on the island. Below is a report from resident Lucky Figtree who attended (even though she was recovering from the flu...)
Global Kids had a great party today! Storm Basiat was running it, and he did a great job. We had drink machines, a dance floor, a bounce house, pizza, a stage and more. Many teens showed up, one of them was Poshva Kolache who says, "it was TOTALLY fun, I won't forget about it for awhile!" It did get a little bit out of hand, but Lizzie Linden helped us with that. There was much dancing and bouncing, and I think Storm should at least help with the next party, if not run it. He did a great job keeping everyone in control, and he should be called on if you have any party needs. If you would like any pictures from the party, please send an In-Game IM to either Storm Basiat, or Lucky Figtree. Also, be sure to come to the next Global Kids activity! HOLY MEATBALLS, we have fun!
Lucky sent me the following photo (feel better soon Lucky!). Storm's photos will follow in an upcoming entry.

Based on the visitor logs, it seems at least four dozen people came over the course of the afternoon. This is amazing to me. Global Kids Island has been open for almost four months now - today the unique visitor number topped 2,000. What amazes me the most is that Global Kids has not organized any large scale organized public event since the end of March. Traffic has driven itself - or rather the teen residents have who enjoy GK Island so much they just want to see more happen there. Of course, we have our own plans, but they're not waiting. Does this means GK Island is starting to tip, supporting a community of teens to run at least some small aspect of it? If so, that is the type of leadership support that Global Kids is all about.
Here are some of my photos from the event, which I attended towards the end to help clean up:
